The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
It's been a loooooooooooooooong time since I returned to this blog, but not because there hasn't been much activity at our Peace Speakers club. Quite the contrary! Since my last blog, seven new and returning officers have been elected, and we've been conducting our bi-monthly meetings via Zoom. Only one meeting was cancelled after COVID-19 struck before we embarked on this new online adventure. We are on a mission!
To note, members are still giving 1-2 speeches each meeting, our impromptu Table Topics sessions are meaningful and lively, and we've enjoyed numerous guests at most Zoom meetings. With a new stream of members who have graced our membership of recent, Peace Speakers are excited about their participation, which grows their leadership and speaking skills as we move through the rest of 2020 into 2021.

Admittedly, my images are usually better than the one above. (I'm behind the camera in the top second frame from the left.) It leaves a bit to be desired to just shoot a Zoom photo, which doesn't give you much of a feel for the club members and guests. However, our meetings move along at a steady pace and give anyone who desires opportunities to practice enjoyable ways to do so.
Visitors to this blog, we are a friendly, kind and supportive group of individuals who all have different goals. Despite those differences, our Toastmasters club is cohesive and organized, and members come prepared to share and engage at our meetings. Our club is a safe place to practice speaking and leading, and whether you're a professional wanting to up your game or someone who just wants to stay engaged in the process of learning and growing, Peace Speakers could be a good fit for you. Join us a few times and see!
